HIM

HIM1HIM is a Finnish rock band from Helsinki. Formed in 1991 by vocalist Ville Valo, guitarist Mikko “Linde” Lindström, and bassist Mikko “Migé” Paananen

The band’s original name was His Infernal Majesty. HIM, formerly ‘His Infernal Majesty’, is not to be confused with Infernäl Mäjesty, a Canadian thrash metal band, HiM, an American post-rock band, or 4Him, a Contemporary Christian group. The band changed the name to HIM from the “Wicked Game” single onwards, though the single for “Your Sweet Six Six Six” includes a ‘His Infernal Majesty’ sticker. Their second studio album, Razorblade Romance, was released under the name HER in the United States because the Chicago-based post-rock band named HiM held the trademark on the name. HIM eventually bought the rights to the name “HIM” in the United States and used it worldwide from there on.

Heartagram

(HIM in concert, with a heartagram-shaped light shining on the stage.)

The heartagram is the trademarked symbol of HIM, created by Ville Valo on his twentieth birthday. Valo has stated that the heartagram is a “Modern Yin Yang,” and is meant to represent the juxtaposition of ‘good and evil’, ‘light and dark’, and ‘love and death’.

Funeral of hearts

Love’s The Funeral Of Hearts And An Ode For Cruelty
When Angels Cry Blood And The Flowers Of Evil In Bloom
The Funeral Of Hearts And A Plead For Mercy
When Love Is A Gun Separating Me From You.
She was the sun shining upon the tomb of your hopes and dreams so frail
He was the moon Painting you with its glow So vulnerable And pale
Love’s The Funeral Of Hearts And An Ode For Cruelty
When Angels Cry Blood And The Flowers Of Evil In Bloom
The Funeral Of Hearts And A Plead For Mercy
When Love Is A Gun Separating Me From You.

She was the wind carrying in all the troubles and things he for years tried to
forget
He was the fire restless and wild, and you went like a moth to that flame

Be ready to be undivine
Pray to a god that’s deaf and blind
The last nights, the souls on fire
Dreaming to answer the question why

Love’s The Funeral Of Hearts And An Ode For Cruelty
When Angels Cry Blood And The Flowers Of Evil In Bloom
The Funeral Of Hearts And A Plead For Mercy
When Love Is A Gun Separating Me From You.
Pretending

Love is a flame that can’t be tamed
And though we are its willing prey, my darling
We are not the ones to blame

Trust is a word all lovers know
The glorious art of staining souls, my darling
We are not the ones to blame

The more we have the more we want
And the more it hurts our hearts, my baby
It always ends up in tears

So keep on pretending
Our heaven is worth the waiting
Keep on pretending, it’s alright
So keep on pretending
It will be the end of our craving
Keep on pretending
It’s alright

When doubts arise the game begins
The one we will never win, my baby
It always ends up in tears

So keep on pretending
Our heaven is worth the waiting
Keep on pretending, it’s alright
So keep on pretending
It will be the end of our craving
Keep on pretending
It’s alright

Come on…

So keep on pretending
Our heaven is worth the waiting
Keep on pretending, it’s alright
So keep on pretending
It will be the end of our craving
Keep on pretending
It’s alright

Love is a flame that can’t be tamed
And though we are its willing prey, my darling
We are not the ones to blame
